1 King of the Douche, now you may bow  Mon, Aug 29, 2011 12:34:58pm

I posted this link [Link: www.politifact.com...] one morning when the subject came up. I love both sites. They pretty much put an end to BS talking points. On both sides.:)

It's true that "advocate" isn't the best description for what Perry said.

More like, encourage people to consider secession with a smirk and a wink and a good ol' boy accent.

The difference is not huge.

Let's see:

Perry: Texas is a unique place. When we came into the Union in 1845, one of the issues was that we would be able to leave if we decided to do that.

We got a great Union. There's absolutely no reason to dissolve it, but if Washington continues to thumb their nose at the American people, you know, who knows what may come out of that.

Sounds like a threat to succeed to me. I call that sedition (as well as wildly inaccurate...Texas has no such provision.).

Perry is playing a bullshit dogwhistle to the tenthers, states rights fanatics (the same ones who screamed the loudest when the feds said they had to stop hanging black men from trees every time they tried to register to vote) and Christian Reconstructionists.

"Do what we say or, ya never know, some of us may have to blow the whole thing up!"

Well, I wish he would go on and secede. Jesus needs to come get his ass and take it someplace else.

I'm still not sure what he meant by "if Washington continues to thumb their nose at the American people." The Washington he's complaining about is the one the American people elected.

I'm still not sure what he meant by "if Washington continues to thumb their nose at the American people." The Washington he's complaining about is the one the American people elected.

He means the 1/2 of Washington disliked by 1/2 (a little less) of the American people.

He only speaks for the Republicans who have decided that Democracy isn't really good when you are voted out.

Agreed. Completely dog whistle politics at its finest - or worst, depending how you look at it.
